Help St. E Hospice

I am embarking on a physical, spiritual and, likely, emotional journey. I am inspired by the journeys of many others before me and want to leave a legacy of support for those who will come after me, by focusing my efforts in a very meaningful way.

I have seen the power of hospice care and believe fully in the overall support hospice provides for patients and families in their time of need. For many families, it’s a life-changing experience — a reminder of what matters and the importance of time spent together creating memories. A sentiment mimicked by the unique breed of people who work and volunteer at Hospice. Their passion for life, desire to help create meaningful experiences and ability to comfort weary souls is exactly why I am dedicating my journey to the volunteers, patients and staff of the St. Elizabeth Hospice Program.

What is Hospice?
Hospice shares a linguistic root with the word, hospitality, and has been historically used to identify a place of rest for sick or ill travelers. Today, hospice is the term used to describe all types of palliative care provided to end-of-life patients. It is about providing the physical, spiritual and emotional care patients and families need during life’s final journey. Care is focused on creating an atmosphere of comfort, acceptance and support, rather than a cure.

St. Elizabeth Hospice Program
I have been a volunteer with St. Elizabeth Hospice since January, and can’t say enough about the program. The St. Elizabeth Hospice Program provides the highest level of care available, with inpatient and in-home support for patients throughout the Northern Kentucky communities. A collaborative, interdisciplinary team of compassionate professionals works with each patient and family to develop plans that help them to navigate through the rough times, cope with their impending loss and celebrate the meaning of life.

My walk is focused on creating awareness and educating everyone on the value of hospice. It is my goal to raise over $1 million in donations, $5 at a time. These donations will work to meet some of the current needs of the organization, as well as help to maintain the highest level of care possible for the patients of the St. Elizabeth Hospice Program.

Walk with E, and symbolically join my journey. Together, $5 at a time, I know we can achieve this goal! Please click here to help by donating to “Hospice — Walk with E,” through the St. Elizabeth Foundation site.

On behalf of the St. Elizabeth Foundation, the Director of the Hospice Center, all the nurses and staff who work selflessly to bring comfort to patients at the end of life’s journey, and all the future hospice patients who will benefit from your generosity, I sincerely thank you!
